ABC's "Practice Makes Perfect"
With current trends in student achievement, one can easily observe a need for better scores that predict student understanding of these Standards. Many of our large cities' schools are having great difficulty in preparing students for state tests. Now that the National Education Reform Act of 2001 has been passed, similar depictions of student learning will also be demonstrated.

The Achievement Builders Corporation has developed a web-based program that will allow students, teachers and parents to see deficits and strengths in student learning within the Fundamental Learning Areas of Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. "Practice Makes Perfect" is a set of assessments, related to all of the Standards in Reading, Mathematics, Social Science and Science.

Grades 3, 5, 8 and 10 are assessed in the areas of Reading and Mathematics, while grades 4 and 7 are tested in Social Science and Science. It gives immediate "deficit-strength" feedback by producing a "scorecard" that can direct students, parents and teachers to specific pages within a textbook for remediation.

After a "Student Improvement Plan" has been established, and a time set for remediation, a student can retake the "Practice Makes Perfect" in areas of deficit. The items in "retakes" are different from those previously tested.

It is this practice and review that resembles the rehearsing for the College Board Exams. These practice exercises prior to testing have demonstrated a marked increase of student achievement scores in Educational Research.

The market presently is ideally set up for this program.
